Pullman & Comley Attorneys to Present at the Connecticut Bankruptcy Conference
Three Pullman & Comley attorneys will be presenting at the 5th Annual Connecticut Bar Association Bankruptcy Conference, which will feature in-depth programming on timely and cutting-edge topics in commercial and consumer bankruptcy law presented by top practitioners and regional judges.
Bankruptcy attorney Irve J. Goldman will be one of three panelists speaking on the topic "Current Issues with Nonconsensual Third-Party Releases in Bankruptcy." Along with Irve, Judge Christopher Panos, Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts, and William Harrington, who is the United States Trustee for Region 2 will explore the current state of the law, the types of claims to which these releases apply, current pending cases, and different perspectives and arguments for and against allowing such releases.
David P. Atkins, Professional Liability attorney, will present on the topic of lawyer ethics and will address recent changes in the regulation of remote and cross-border law practice and non-lawyer legal service providers in the session titled "Ethics - Recent changes to the Rules of Professional Conduct/New Developments in Ethics/What to do if You Get Hacked." David will be joined by Hon. Julie A. Manning of U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Connecticut and Thomas J. Sansone and Sherwin M. Yoder of Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey.
Bankruptcy attorney Kristin B. Mayhew will participate as a panelist during the "Trial Practice in Bankruptcy Court" session where she will discuss various aspects of trial practice in the bankruptcy court, including the presentation of evidence, preparation of witness examinations, opening and closing statements, the use of deposition transcripts at trial, how to anticipate and head off hearsay objections, and a judge’s view of trial practice and preparation. Kristin will share the panel with Chief Judge Ann M. Nevins of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Connecticut; David Shaiken of Shiman Shaiken & Schwefel; and John L. Cesaroni of Zeisler & Zeisler, who will be moderating.
