Title IX on the Nines Webinar Series: Requirements for Pregnant and Parenting Students
Pullman & Comley's Title IX on the Nines, a webinar series designed for Title IX coordinators, investigators, decision-makers and administrators, continues on Thursday, March 9.
Under Title IX, it is illegal for schools to exclude a pregnant student from participating in any part of an educational program. Education Law attorneys Melinda B. Kaufmann and Gwaina D. Wauldon will provide an overview of the Title IX requirements regarding pregnant and parenting students and strategies to assist educators in supporting them. Topics to be covered include:
- participation in advanced placement or honors classes, extracurricular programs, interscholastic sports, honor societies, and opportunities for student leadership, among other activities;
- implementation of special instructional programs or classes for a pregnant student; and
- academic and extracurricular status when a student returns to school after childbirth.
There will be ample opportunity for Q&A at the end of the presentation. Register here.
If you have an idea for topics or a question you would like covered in future webinars, please email us at TitleIXonTheNines@pullcom.com. Questions that are selected to be answered will be presented anonymously.
