Andrew C. Glassman Quoted in Hartford Business Journal on DCP Recreational Marijuana Law Affecting Connecticut Municipalities
Andrew C. Glassman, member of Pullman & Comley's Cannabis, CBD and Hemp team, discussed the state Department of Consumer Protection's clarification on a recreational marijuana law with Hartford Business Journal. Until now, it was unclear if smaller municipalities could host licensed cannabis businesses, but the recent announcement spelled out that a town or city with fewer than 25,000 residents can host one licensed dispensary and micro-cultivation business.
Andy said that with more than half of the state's municipalities having populations of less than 25,000 people, this clarification is an important one. If they were restricted from opening cannabis businesses, it could have hindered the industry's growth. “If you look at northwestern Connecticut and northeastern Connecticut, that would have left most of those municipalities out of the process,” he said.
