The dilemma has been highlighted by the ongoing federal campaign financing probe into the congressional campaign of Connecticut House Speaker Christopher G. Donovan.
According to David, "The confidentiality of those conversations [with prospective clients] and all sensitive information that is learned is broadly protected, even though no actual attorney-client representation ensues."
