PRESS RELEASE: Andrew J. McDonald Named General Counsel To Connecticut Governor-Elect Dan Malloy
BRIDGEPORT, Conn.: Pullman & Comley, LLC has announced that Stamford partner Andrew J. McDonald, who has also served as a Connecticut State Senator since 2003, will resign from the firm to serve as General Counsel to Governor-Elect Dan Malloy, effective January 5, 2011.
In his new role, Andrew will oversee the legal operations of the Governor’s Office as well as the in-house legal operations of the Executive Branch’s departments and agencies. He will serve as lead legal contact for the Malloy administration with the Attorney General’s office, and will lead any independent legal reviews of Executive Branch operations that are requested by the Governor.

McDonald noted that he first worked at Pullman & Comley as a summer associate in 1990, and joined the firm as an associate after graduating law school in 1991. "Most of my legal training and experience was acquired at Pullman, and I am indebted to my colleagues here for everything they have done to help me in my legal career," he said. "I look forward to advising and representing the Governor-Elect and his administration on the legal issues that lie ahead."
At Pullman & Comley, Andrew represented individual and institutional clients in commercial litigation matters at both the trial and appellate levels, and chaired the firm’s Appellate Practice Section. As State Senator, he represented Stamford and Darien in the 27th District, and served as the deputy majority leader of the senate and the senate chairman of the Judiciary Committee. Andrew also served as the director of legal affairs and corporation counsel for the city of Stamford under then-Mayor Malloy from January 1999 through June 2002, when he resigned to begin his campaign for State Senate. Andrew received his A.B. from Cornell University and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
