PRESS RELEASE: Attorney Karen Daley Appointed President of Optimus Foundation, Inc.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn., July 30, 2015: Attorney Karen A. Daley of Pullman & Comley, LLC has been appointed President of Optimus Foundation, Inc., the law firm reported today.
Optimus Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity established to raise funds to support the health care programs and facilities of Optimus Health Care, Inc. a non-profit, federally qualified health center. As the largest provider of primary health care services in southwestern Connecticut, Optimus Health Care has nearly 50,000 patients and operates six school-based health centers and 17 community health sites in Bridgeport, Stamford and Stratford.
Ms. Daley, an attorney in Pullman & Comley’s Health Care Department, has served as Optimus Health Care’s corporate counsel since 2011. “Over the past several years I have had the privilege of working closely with the Optimus staff, and have the utmost respect for their commitment and dedication to their patients and the critical role that Optimus Health Care plays in providing quality health care to those most in need. I am honored to be named President of Optimus Foundation, and am committed to assisting Optimus Health Care in its mission to serve the medically underserved.”
Ms. Daley says her immediate objectives are to increase awareness of Optimus Health Care and Optimus Foundation, increase the size of Optimus Foundation’s board of directors and focus Optimus Foundation’s mission to raise funds to support programs that improve the health and welfare of the women, infants and children served by Optimus Health Care.

Ms. Daley will continue her legal practice with Pullman & Comley, where she represents federally qualified health centers, hospitals, hospital-affiliated organizations, physician groups, behavioral health groups, ambulance service operators and a regional emergency communication center. She routinely advises on a wide variety of matters including Medicare and Medicaid coverage and payment, health care fraud and abuse laws and regulations, health records privacy compliance, corporate governance, and day-to-day patient issues. Ms. Daley has experience in managing corporate health care transactions, including hospital affiliations and mergers, hospital/physician joint ventures and physician practice acquisitions. She also represents health care providers in proceedings before the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
Throughout her career, Ms. Daley has worked in the health care sector in various capacities. Prior to joining Pullman & Comley, Ms. Daley was the Director of Risk Management and Associate Counsel at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford and was also the Director of Risk Management at Bridgeport Hospital. Prior to those roles, she defended medical malpractice cases and represented physicians in proceedings before the Connecticut Department of Health.
A registered nurse in Connecticut and Massachusetts, Ms. Daley began her career at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where she was a surgical critical care nurse, trauma outreach nurse and clinical advisor for more than ten years. She holds a law degree from Boston College Law School, an M.B.A. from the Boston College Carroll School of Management, and a B.S. from Boston College.
