Herbert H. Moorin Receives Distinguished Service Award From GBBA; Edward P. McCreery III Elected As 2012-2013 President
BRIDGEPORT, Conn.: The Greater Bridgeport Bar Association (GBBA) honored two Pullman & Comley attorneys at its annual dinner meeting on May 15, 2012. Edward P. McCreery III was elected as president of the GBBA for the 2012-2013 year and Herbert H. Moorin was presented with the GBBA’s Distinguished Service Award.
Herb practices in the area of employee benefits and trusts and estates law. He founded the firm’s Employee Benefits practice, which has grown to include six attorneys today. Herb is celebrating his 50th anniversary with Pullman & Comley LLC this year. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Trinity College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
The Distinguished Service Award is presented each year to an attorney who has demonstrated his or her commitment to improving the quality of life in the Greater Bridgeport Area through service to the community. Herb was recognized for his more than 30 years of support for Bridgeport’s Kennedy Center, where he serves as a member (and former chairman) of the board of directors, for being a strong voice for quality education for all students in Bridgeport’s public schools as a member (and former chairman) of the board of directors of the Bridgeport Public Education Fund, and for his years of service as a member of the board of directors of the Greater Bridgeport Symphony.
“Through his skill as an attorney and outstanding professionalism, his service to the community and his devotion to his family, Herb has been setting the standard for all of us for 50 years,” said Rob Morris, chairman of Pullman & Comley. “I can’t think of a more deserving recipient of the Distinguished Service Award.”
Edward P. McCreery practices in the firm’s Litigation Department and chairs the Insurance Law Section. He has extensive jury and non-jury trial experience in a wide range of litigation matters including insurance coverage, construction defects, embezzlement, complex foreclosures, municipal liability, environmental contamination, land use and condemnation. In addition to his trial experience, Ed has handled a broad range of alternate dispute resolutions including arbitration and mediation. He has represented several municipalities as corporation counsel and as special counsel on diverse topics of land use, environmental remediation, construction and condemnation. Ed received his B.A. degree from the University of Vermont and his J.D. from Western New England University School of Law.
Ed ascended to the position of President of the GBBA having previously served as treasurer, secretary, vice president and president-elect of the organization. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA), where he has been active in leadership roles, serving on the Executive Committee of the CBA’s Litigation Section and as a delegate to the House of Delegates. Ed is the immediate past chair of the CBA’s Insurance Section and a former member of the Ethics Committee.
