PRESS RELEASE: Pullman & Comley Attorney Alan J. Sobol Recognized by Super Lawyers 2011; Authors Chapter on White Collar Legal Issues

HARTFORD:  Alan J. Sobol, an attorney with Pullman & Comley, LLC, was named to the Connecticut Super Lawyers list for 2011, the law firm reported today.  He was cited for his work in the area of criminal defense.

Super Lawyers recognizes attorneys in more than 70 areas of practice using a multiphase selection process that considers 15 separate indicators of peer recognition, professional achievement and ethical standards.  The Connecticut list appears in the November 2010 issue of New England Super Lawyers and will be published in the February 2011 issue of Connecticut magazine.

In addition, Alan was selected in 2010 to author a chapter in Managing White Collar Issues:  Leading Lawyers on Understanding Recent Notable Cases, Establishing Key Defense Strategies, and Developing Client Relationships (Thomson Reuters/Aspatore Books 2011), released this month.  The book, part of the “Inside the Minds” series, features chapters by senior partners at some of the top U.S. law firms, selected based on their experience, research and standing within the professional community.  A PDF of Alan’s chapter, entitled “Staying on Top of the Issues:  New Developments for White Collar Lawyers and Their Clients,” is available at www.pullcom.com.

 A partner in the firm’s Hartford office, Alan practices in the Litigation Department and White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations practice.  He has represented both corporate and individual clients in federal and state health care, Medicare and Medicaid  fraud and enforcement, federal fraud and false claims, financial fraud, structuring, tax, anti-trust, federal and state racketeering and public corruption cases.

 Earlier in his career, Alan was a trial attorney, Criminal Division, a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, and a prosecutor, for the General Litigation Section, U.S. Department of Justice, in Washington, D.C.   He is a member of the American, Connecticut and Hartford Bar Associations, as well as the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the U.S. District Court Criminal Justice Act Panel, the Connecticut Health Lawyers Association and the Health Care Compliance Association.  Alan has been listed in Who’s Who in American Law, is a Diplomat in the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and a U.S. Attorney General's Honor Law Graduate Program Attorney.   He is an elected member of the Cheshire Board of Education, and past president-chairman of the Cheshire Education Foundation.  Alan earned his B.A. with honors from the University of Maryland, and his J.D. at the University of Akron.
