Pullman & Comley Welcomes Westport’s Frederic S. Ury to the Firm
WESTPORT, CT October 31, 2022 -- Pullman & Comley, LLC is pleased to announce the addition of Frederic S. Ury to the firm as a member of the Litigation practice. Mr. Ury will be based in the firm’s office in Westport, where he has been a resident for more than 45 years.
Mr. Ury is a board-certified civil trial lawyer and represents clients including individuals, corporations and small businesses in both civil and criminal matters. Mr. Ury represents other attorneys in ethics and disciplinary grievances, successfully bringing and defending hundreds of cases in Connecticut's Superior, Appellate and Supreme courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Ury has held numerous leadership positions within the legal community:
- Within the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA), Mr. Ury served as president (2004-2005); served as vice-chair and chair of the CBA’s Litigation Section and founding editor of its newsletter, Sidebar; and served as vice-chair and chair of the Continuing Education Committee. He was also co-chair of the Attorney Trustee Defalcation Committee.
- Mr. Ury has held several positions within the National Conference of Bar Presidents, including serving on the Executive Council, the Programming Committee and holding several leadership roles, including serving as secretary, treasurer, president-elect and president of the organization.
- Additionally, Mr. Ury has been an active member of the American Bar Association (ABA), serving as a member of the ABA’s House of Delegates, co-chair of the Technology Sub-committee and serving as the chair of the Standing Committee on Professionalism and chair of the Coordinating Council for the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility.
Mr. Ury has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades for his professional achievement, including receiving the National Conference of Bar Presidents Fellows Award in 2019, the Career Service Award from the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association in 2015, and was the recipient of the John Eldridge Shields Distinguished Professional Service Award in 2013. He has been listed as a Super Lawyer in General Litigation in New England and Connecticut every year since 2006. He has received the highest peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell (AV) and has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America.

Mr. Ury has devoted much personal and professional time to pro bono and philanthropic activities. In the wake of 9/11, Mr. Ury and the firm he was a founding member of donated hundreds of hours of free legal representation to victims and their families. For 13 years he was a court-appointed special public defender for the Connecticut Superior Court in Stamford and Bridgeport.
Since 2009, Mr. Ury has been a trustee of the Westport and Weston Foundation and the Hurburt Fund, which provides assistance to Weston and Westport families in need. He has also served on the Community Council of Westport-Weston and was a member of the board of directors of the United Way of Westport-Weston.
Mr. Ury is admitted to the Connecticut Bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, the New York Bar and the United States Supreme Court. He received his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in Boston and his B.S. degree, with the highest distinction, from Babson College.
