The Who, When and Why of Using Experts in Contested Custody Cases
Livia D. Barndollar, a partner in Pullman & Comley’s Family Law practice based in Westport, was co-editor of the Spring 2021 issue of the Family Advocate, published by the Family Law section of the American Bar Association. The Spring 2021 publication covers a range of topics related to custody.
In that issue, Livia worked with licensed psychologist and consultant Dr. Robert A. Simon to write The Who, When and Why of Using Experts in Child Custody Cases. The article, which offers guidance on the benefits of adding a specialized forensic psychologist to the legal team in a contested custody case, was adapted from Forensic Psychology Consultation in Child Custody Litigation: A Handbook for Work Product Review, Case Preparation and Expert Testimony, a book Dr. Simon recently co-authored with Philip M. Stahl.
