James Shearin and Monte Frank to Moderate an ABA Task Force on American Democracy Listening Tour/CBA Rule of Law Conference
James T. Shearin and Monte E. Frank will be moderating important panel discussions at the ABA Task Force on American Democracy Listening Tour/CBA Rule of Law Conference addressing significant challenges facing our democracy and the rule of law.
The American Bar Association (ABA) and the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) are taking action by hosting a critical discussion on this issue by bringing together leaders from the Bench and the Bar (State and National), the Connecticut media, the Secretary of State and others. At the Conference, Mr. Shearin, current CBA President, will be moderating a panel, which includes ABA President Mary Smith, on “What Lawyers Can Do to Sustain Our Constitutional Democracy.” Mr. Frank, a former CBA President and current member of the ABA Advisory Commission to the ABA Task Force on American Democracy will be moderating a panel, which includes Connecticut’s Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas and Unite America’s Nick Troiano, on “Electoral Reforms to Increase Voter Participation, Reward Good Behavior and Reduce Polarization.” Co-chair of the ABA Task Force on American Democracy and Former United States Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson will be the keynote speaker. Other panels will address the Independence of the Judiciary and the Role of Media in the Age of Misinformation / Disinformation.
