Megan Carannante Appeared on NBC Connecticut to Discuss the Latest Vaccine Mandate for Businesses with 100 or More Employees
Megan Youngling Carannante, co-chair of the firm’s Labor, Employment Law and Employee Benefits practice, spoke with Dan Corcoran of NBC Connecticut on how businesses have been impacted by the recent announcement from the Biden administration requiring businesses with 100 employees or more to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for their employees.
Megan explained how OSHA will enforce the rules and what the process of complaints looks like. "An employee would bring a violation to OSHA's attention and then OSHA would investigate it. Additionally, however, OSHA could conduct random audits and come randomly to workplaces to make sure that employers are complying." Certainly, retaliation is a concern. Megan points out there is a requirement for employers to notify employees that they are not subject to retaliation for bringing a violation to OSHA's attention.
Megan also outlines what employers need to do now to ensure they are within guidelines and are complying with the federal standard. To listen to the full interview, please visit NBC Connecticut's website.
