Alex Hernandez Receives 2012 Multicultural Leadership Award of Connecticut
BRIDGEPORT, Conn.: Attorney Alex V. Hernandez of Pullman & Comley is a recipient of the 2012 Multicultural Leadership Award of Connecticut from the National Diversity Council.
Mr. Hernandez was recognized at the 2012 Inaugural Connecticut Diversity and Leadership Conference on October 19. The Multicultural Leadership Award honors individuals of color who have demonstrated leadership excellence in the public and/or private sectors, sustained a record of accomplishments and contributions to their field of work throughout scope of their careers, demonstrated leadership characteristics in the community, and exhibited and demonstrated a commitment to the highest ethical standards and professional excellence.
Mr. Hernandez is a member of Pullman & Comley’s Litigation Department and chair of its White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations Section. Prior to joining Pullman & Comley in 2007, he was the Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Fairfield County office of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut where he supervised 12 attorneys and six support personnel in the investigation and prosecution of criminal tax fraud, white collar crime, fraud, public corruption, computer related offenses, theft of trade secrets and violent felonies.
Mr. Hernandez worked at the U.S. Department of Justice for 16 years. He has handled and supervised hundreds of cases at all phases of litigation, from case assessment and intake, investigation, early case resolution, suppression of evidence, the presentation and cross-examination of expert witnesses, jury selection and trial. He has conducted hundreds of witness and document driven investigations before the grand jury, tried dozens of federal and state jury trials and briefed and argued dozens of appeals in federal and state court. Prior to joining the Department of Justice in 1991, he served for five years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Mr. Hernandez is the chair of Pullman & Comley's Diversity Committee. He serves on the boards of directors of the Cardinal Shehan Center, the United Way of Coastal Fairfield County and the Shelter for the Homeless, Inc. In 2011, he was appointed by Connecticut Governor Malloy to serve as a member of the Office of Policy and Management’s Crime Lab Working Group. Mr. Hernandez received his A.B. from Harvard University and his J.D. from Stanford Law School.
